Please write out, in your best handwriting, the following pangram:

Entries will be judged on:
LEGIBILITY: how easy it is to read.
FLUENCY: smoothness, grace and flow of writing.
COMPETENCY: Layout: margins on 4 sides of writing, spacing between the letters, words and lines. Consistency of letter forms: size, slant, accuracy of the quote, neatness, spelling.
The text provided on this page should be written in any of the various styles of cursive handwriting rather than printed. Each performance of writing will be judged as a whole according to ease of reading. The writing should feature not only a fluent rhythmic movement but also a technically correct performance of specifications such as the slope, space, size, and shape of the letters. The goal of the work is disciplined freedom of movement.
The competitor can choose the paper and the writing instrument to use as long as the paper is 8 1/2" X 11". The general layout of the entry (choice of margins and line spacing) will be taken into account along with overall neatness.
Only one entry may be submitted by each competitor. The competitor must write his or her name, address, telephone number and/or e-mail address on a separate piece of paper, indicating age as of October 22, 2009. Students should also write the name and address of their school and the name of their English teacher, if applicable. If under the age of majority, please include contact information for your Parent/Legal Guardian as well.

Write On! Contest Rules
1. These rules govern the What’s On! Handwriting Contest (“Contest”). The act of entering the Contest constitutes acceptance of the Contest rules and decisions of the Contest judges.
2. The contest sponsors are the Toronto International Pen Show, Bridge Promotional Advertising Inc., and Sanford Brands Canada (“Sponsors”).
3. The contest is open to all residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, who are 14 years of age or older as of October 16, 2009; except for employees, immediate families and anyone living with any employee of the Sponsors or their Corporate affiliates, advertising or promotional agencies.
4. To enter the contest, you must handwrite and submit the pangram outlined above by the deadline.
5. Entrants retain the copyright to their writing. However, by entering the Contest, you hereby grant the Sponsors a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicenseable and transferable license to print, publish, use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, and display your full name, and handwriting in connection with the Sponsors’ (and its successors’) business, including without limitation in any media formats and through any media channels.

7. Prior to receiving their prize, the potential winner will be required to sign a release form releasing the Sponsors and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates and/or related companies and each of their officers, directors, shareholders, employees, advisors, assignees, agents, licensees, representatives, advertising, media buyers, and promotional agencies from any and all liability in connection with the Contest and/or the prizes, confirming compliance with the rules and consenting to the use of his or her name, writing entry, without further compensation, in any publicity carried out by the Sponsors and/or their advertising and promotional agencies. For minors, this form must be signed by a Parent/Legal Guardian.
8. By participating in this Contest, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsors, and its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates and/or related companies and each of their officers, directors, shareholders, employees, advisors, assignees, agents, licensees, representatives, advertising, media buyers and promotional agencies from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of action, or losses of any kind (including but not limited to attorney’s fees) arising from your participation in the Contest, your violation of any term of these Contest rules, your violation of any third party right, including without limitation any copyright, property, or privacy right; or (iv) any claim that your submission caused damage to a third party.
9. We use your personal contact information to administer this Contest, including contacting, announcing and promoting prizewinners. Minors will not be directly contacted, we will contact their identified Parent/Legal Guardian. Winning minor’s names only will be announced on Saturday, October 24, 2009. Personal information of minors will not be retained following the completion of the Contest.
10. All decisions of the Contest judges are final. This Contest is governed by the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein. The Sponsors reserve the right to cancel or modify the Contest or the Contest rules at any time without notice. All prizes must be accepted as awarded. All prizes are awarded as-is and no warranties or guarantees are implied or expressed, beyond the standard manufacturer’s warranty. Sponsors are not responsible for any lost or stolen entries.
11. Winners will be announced at 2:00pm during the Toronto International Pen Show, on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at the Hilton Toronto Airport. A list of winners will also be posted on this website.
